Bio

While she began working in art with clay, Anne Willson shifted her focus to the nonprofit and university arts sectors for 25+ years, leading visual arts organizations in North Carolina and Tennessee. During that time, she maintained a side art practice, first with clay and painting, then sculptural weaving and the random weave process.

Willson returned to North Carolina and to the studio in 2016 where she took random weave β€œto the wall,” developing a body of nests, pods and vessels that integrate reed with natural materials. She also began creating a series of dresses, articulating personality and lived history through the forms.

Willson has presented her sculptures in solo and juried group exhibitions since 2018 andworks are held in numerous private collections. Her studio is located at Anchorlight in Raleigh, N.C.
